This past Sunday, Ray Mears offered up a once-in-a-lifetime trip tracking leopards in Namibia, which was auctioned off on BBC Radio 2 for Children in Need. The 5-day trip will be hosted by Ray next year, along with members of the Global Leopard Project, and will offer an amazing chance to see these big cats along with other game, such as lions, cheetahs and rhinos.

At the end of Sunday’s auction, the winning bid raised a fantastic £17,000 for the charity.

During an interview with Richard Madeley last week, Ray explained just what the expedition would involve:

We want your feedback!

As we’re sure you know, this is Woodlore’s first foray into the world of blogging. Being so new to this, with only a few months under our belt, we’re keen to know what you all think.

We’re always keeping a close eye on the comments you post on our blog, but from now on we’ll be picking a ‘Comment of the Week’ and rewarding that person with a £10.00 Woodlore Voucher, which can then be used against any of our camping equipment or Bushcraft courses.

We appreciate every reader we have, but it would be fantastic to have some feedback from you to find out what you think of our posts.

We look forward to hearing from you.

We are pleased to announce that Ray will be doing a short lecture tour in Scotland and Belfast later this year.

Ray Mears’ skills with nature and in bushcraft have been acquired through working in some of the world’s remotest and harshest environments. In this fascinating presentation Ray brings together 30 years of study with a compelling story of wilderness, its wildlife and the bushcraft skills necessary for survival.

Ray will be talking at the following venues:

Welcome to the Woodlore, School of Wilderness Bushcraft Blog!

Well, it’s the beginning of a new course season once again. With lots going on already, we feel it’s an ideal time to start our Bushcraft Blog. From here, the Woodlore Team hopes to keep all fellow Woodloreans up-to-date every week with news and reports from the world of Woodlore.

This will be the place to find it all, be it behind-the-scenes photos from our courses, news of last-minute spaces on our wilderness expeditions, or simply the name of the equipment Ray Mears has been using on TV.

Hopefully this blog will allow us to give all our followers the answers and info that they’re looking for, all in one place. Plus, if there’s something you’d like to see up here we’d love to hear your thoughts.
