Baldric Attachment for Woodlore Neck Sheath

Woodlore Aspirant Instructor David Southey kindly produced a tutorial to describe how to wear the Ray Mears Neck Sheath using a baldric carry system.

Equipment needed:

  • 2.5 meters of paracord
  • Ray Mears Leather Knife Sheath – Neck

Method:

Pass 40cm through the slot next to the fire steel holder on the sheath.

Doing so in the fashion shown in the photo ensures the knife is held neatly against the body.

Wrap cord around the sheath and back through the slot until you have 40cm remaining, some trimming may be required so it’s best to leave this end long to ensure you have enough.

Tie the ends in adjustable knots so you can lengthen or shorten the baldric depending on your size or the clothes you are wearing.

Here is a useful tutorial on tying the adjustable knots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orLr5H4a880

Great post, thank you for sharing this information. This is a a good option in colder months when you have heavier clothing.

Could you do a blog post on what Ray keeps in his belt pouch?
